The Road Ahead…

Coming up soon,  this year’s adventure road trip will take us around the great state of California. Starting with a long flight all the way to SFO, a few days at our home base, and then off to a 3+ week of nothing but road, and side stops. I have a list of about 100+ things that I want to do and see along the way…

We’ll start in San Francisco, and then the road will take us to:

  • Sacramento,
  • Yosemite National Park,
  • Death Valley National Park,
  • Las Vegas,
  • Mojave desert,
  • Joshua Tree National Park,
  • Palm Springs,
  • Los Angeles,
  • Malibu,
  • Carmel,
  • Monterrey,
  • Back home to SF

And I plan to at least cover the following bucket-list items:

  • 30. Ride in a hot air balloon
  • 31. Go on a helicopter ride
  • 37. Race a sports car
  • 89. Visit The Grand Canyon,
AZ
  • 92. Travel around San Francisco in the cable car, CA
  • 93. See the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, CA
  • 94. Go to Universal Studios, Hollywood, CA
  • 96. Visit Hollywood walk of fame, CA
  • 120. Drive on Route 66
  • 121. Drive down highway 101 (west coast highway)
  • 127. Climb to the top of a volcano
  • 164. Go whale-watching

For extra bonus points, I plan to do this all with one carry-on luggage. I want to travel light and be free…

Big Trips in the making: 2015 Wilderness Alaska,  2019 Volcanic Iceland

Do not forget to check out this site, which was the biggest help in planning my 100+ things I would like to see and do on this trip.

  1. Hi Jane. I did pretty much the same trip about a year ago in 3 weeks aswell…You should try and get over to Utah/ Arizona aswell while you’re around Vegas…Check out my page on America though for more tips and advice etc. as the trip is almost identical!! Have fun!!

    1. I’m planning to do Utah and Arizona in a separate trip. I think Bryce, Zion, Arches and the Canyon deserve a trip on their own. I love parks, and plan do spend my days enjoying all they offer 🙂 Will definitely check out your page!
