I had no plans for 2015, yet I did a lot. The majority of which I cannot remember.

the Fasten Seatbelt sign has been turned on…

My trip to SFO begins on a Sunday with a 9 hour flight and 1 short layover in MIA. After a small upgrade at check in, to be more comfortable in cattle-class; the MIA-SFO leg is a bit longer and a little comfort (aka leg space) is MUCH appreciated, we leave the island.

Have Love, Will Travel

I have divided my adventure in about 8 chapters, yet to be written. Before I start, I want to share with you the most important part of the trip, entertainment, because conversations can only go so far. My road-trip songs, carefully selected and screened for this particular trip. It’s about 73 songs, not all to my liking but I do have a travel partner and he too needs something to listen, sing to….

I also have a sing-along playlist, that I will reveal at a later time. In the meantime, enjoy the music as I go and write my travel journey….

The Road Ahead…

Coming up soon,  this year’s adventure road trip will take us around the great state of California. Starting with a long flight all the way to SFO, a few days at our home base, and then off to a 3+ week of nothing but road, and side stops. I have a list of about 100+ things that I want to do and see along the way…

We’ll start in San Francisco, and then the road will take us to:

  • Sacramento,
  • Yosemite National Park,
  • Death Valley National Park,
  • Las Vegas,
  • Mojave desert,
  • Joshua Tree National Park,
  • Palm Springs,
  • Los Angeles,
  • Malibu,
  • Carmel,
  • Monterrey,
  • Back home to SF

And I plan to at least cover the following bucket-list items: Continue reading The Road Ahead…

Working down the Bucket list.

Let’s start with the best part of the summer. Now as I have stated before, I admittedly have a huge fear of the open water.  I will swim in the ocean as long as I can feel the sand beneath my toes, visibility is clear for miles, and there are minimal waves, preferably none. The cause of this fear you might ask? Ahhhh the joys of being a teenager, and the not-so-wise choices we make. It started an early morning 10+ years ago. As we arrived at school, there was a scheduling issue with classes on that day. Instead of waiting for the issue to be cleared up, we skipped school and went to the beach. It was those one-of-a-kind days, where the usually quiet and calm sea turned into a raging monster, with abnormally high waves. Which of course, we decided to take on. Long story short, I came an inch away from drowning, and ended up in the ER with a concussion. And as it turned out in the following years, a fear of waves and open waters.

Now I proudly present to you numbers 32+33 off the Bucket list!

32. Go scuba diving
33. Go snorkeling in a shipwreck

It was pretty awesome, quiet, calm and unless you look up, you do not even notice how rough the waves are above your head.

Before taking down number 126, I went to a local baseball game, which surprisingly, I enjoyed a lot. Something that will definitely happen much more now.

126. Watch a major league baseball game

Here we go again….

It’s been months since my last post. Then again, that happens when you get caught up in life and the wrapped speed that everything moves nowadays…I even forget there for a minute that I had a plan and even worse a blog to tend to…

Sitting the night away behind my lovely  LULU, (or the iMac) selecting songs for my next trip and it hits me… I might as well write… and update my blog.

First things first… Continue reading Here we go again….

A little courage is needed!

Week 4 of running is going awesome!

I like myself…the amount of self-love is a bit nauseating, I am awesome! Slowly and steadily adding distance to my runs, it feels like a piece of cake, sometimes more like a slap in the face… a death wish… but then when it’s al over, I’m revived, and ready for the next training session…

What I am struggling with though, is to find the courage to get back on the bike… The road, my enemy, my archenemy scares me… OK, not much so the road, as the amount of hills, the abusive wind, the scorching sun and the traffic 😦

All elements I find to tell myself that it’s ok to not start biking yet… yes I know, “what a sissy, Continue reading A little courage is needed!

Flashback Restday…

It’s days like these that I miss the winter… and the excitement of the slopes and new sports…

I woke up feeling guilty… like my day will mean nothing… yes I know rest day is vital. Repeat: VITAL! But the feeling does not go away…

Drop the kids off at school. Breakfast! Change! Off to work! Pick kids up! Back to work!

Job done…Go home… and now… what do I do with that extra time I have in my day today… Let’s do some housework chores…nahhhh maybe not… Overdue paperwork… nah…

Nothing feels right….ohhh it’s the guilt speaking again… it kills me…

I want to go out there and do some running… I love my progress, I am even amazed proud of it, of myself.

How do you cope with rest days? Will it get better?

Happy 2014!
